I understood Henry didn’t score in his first 8 Arsenal games and has said he had to learn to be a striker.
As I recall Nick Hornby in Fever Pitch said Henry was known as the French Perry Groves early on by Arsenal fans.

Wenger took Henry to Arsenal to play as a striker, he was a winger at Juventus before. He scored 17 goals in 31 games, almost all up front, in his first season. many people have banged on in the past about henry needing time to adjust to the PL and a new position. He didn't.

And Henry was only 22, AL is 26. I really don't rate him. He does work hard, but certainly doesn't score enough for a top team, how much was he 50 odd million?

I don’t think Henry was even a striker for the whole of his first season. He was a winger before signing for Arsenal.

That's a myth that's been chucked around for years. He struggled in early games, but finished the season with 26 goals from 47 games.

I've got a Gooner mate who goes to every game and the majority of their fans seem to rate him and his return so far isn't exactly bad. Hardly a bullet dodged, especially in our position.

If & until we have a couple of central midfielders to hold & dominate the midfield there is no point in having a decent striker who is going to be permanently isolated up front

When I’ve seen him play in games where Arsenal have had a good share of the ball Ive been impressed by the way he has worked with other players and he has been unlucky not to score more.
Saw a bit of the game tonight and Chelsea had all the game and the Arsenal strikers were isolated and feeding on scraps ( sound familiar?) and he wasn’t in the game.
Would presumably be how he would be for us.
